MP outdoors new Mosque for Fawohoyeden community

Fawohoyeden (B/A), Jan. 12, GNA- A 90-million cedis Mosque has been inaugurated at Fawohoyeden in the Asunafo District of Ashanti. The Asharadeen Moslem Youth Organisation, a benevolent society in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) built the Mosque in six months. Mr Benjamin Osei Kufuor, Member of Parliament for Asunafo North, thanked the society for the assistance and urged the Muslim community to view the edifice as a symbol of peace.

Mr Kufuor pledged an amount of 50 million cedis towards the construction of an Islamic basic school in the town.

The MP appealed to Moslem parents to give priority to secular education and enrol their children in school to acquire the required knowledge for their survival and development.

In a speech read for him, Mr George Yaw Boakye, Asunafo District Chief Executive (DCE) said the District Assembly would sponsor five young persons each from the district's six traditional areas to undergo vocational and skill training this academic year.

Nana Boakye Dankwah, Chief of Fawohoyeden, who is also the Presiding Member for the Asunafo District Assembly, commended the communal spirit of the Moslem community and urged them to sustain it. He thanked one Alhaji Yakubu through whose singular efforts the UAE organization agreed to sponsor the project and asked the beneficiary community to use it for the intended purpose.
