MP launches tree planting at Mataheko

Accra, Nov. 3, GNA - Mr Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma Central, has launched an exercise in which 500 tree seedlings would be planted at selected schools in the area, at Mataheko, Accra.

They include Presby Vocational and Cluster of schools at Laterbiokorshie, Mamprobi Salvation Army School and Mabrook Basic School.

The MP said that the exercise would help reduce the impact of climate change and the tress would serve as wind break and beautify and protect the environment.

Mr Lovans Owusu Takyi, Programme Coordinator for Trees for the Future, Ghana, a non-governmental organization (NGO), donated watering cans and planting tools to the schools to facilitate the exercise.

He commended the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology for supplying the tree seedlings.

Miss Bernice Aduo, Officer in Charge of the Ablekuma South Schools, commended the MP and the NGO for supporting the exercise.
