MP donates to Akim Oda Robbery Victims.

Akim Oda (ER), April 11, GNA-Mr. Yaw Owusu Boateng, Member of Parliament (MP) for Akim Oda constituency has donated GH¢ 1,300 to victims of armed robbers who severely beat them up and took away their personal belongings and monies totalling several thousands of Ghana cedis.

The victims included six National Service personnel of the Birim Central Municipality who received their allowances a day before the incident and other co-tenants who are traders. They were brutalised and robbed at a gun point at their residence at Community Six at Akim Oda, sometimes in February this year. The donation from Mr Boateng's share of the MP's common fund was to help alleviate the suffering of the victims, especially the service personnel.

Making the presentation during which each of the Service Personnel received GH¢100, the MP expressed concern about the situation and described it as unfortunate, saying he was thankful to God that none of them was killed. Mr. Boateng urged the victims to be brave as they went about their daily activities in the Municipality, adding that in consultation with the Divisional Command of the Police, regular intensive night patrol would be mounted in the area and the entire Municipality to help ward off criminals.

Mr Jeremiah Appartain, Municipal Director of the National Service received the donation on behalf of the victims. He thanked the MP for the gesture and pledged their commitment to continue to work diligently, in spite of the robbery so as to contribute their quota towards the progress and development of the Municipality in particular and the nation as a whole. Meanwhile the Akim Oda police have arrested a group of armed robbers in a different operation and had identified some of them as having taken part in the Community Six raid. 11 April 09
