MP calls for calm in his constituency

Kumasi, April 17, GNA - Mr Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwabre West, has called on supporters and members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and citizens in the constituency to exercise restraint to ensure continued peace and tranquillity.

Mr Owusu-Ansah, who is the Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney General, was explaining issues on recent developments in the constituency at a meeting of polling station and ward chairmen of the party in Kumasi on Easter Sunday.

He said he abhorred violence and feared litigation in all forms as somebody who had worked with the judicial courts and visited many prisons.

The MP called on them to exercise patience and close their ranks and organize the party at their levels in preparation for future elections.

Touching on the utilization of his share of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), Mr Owusu-Ansah said he had provided 80 million cedis for the provision of potable water for Aduman Secondary School. He also said he had given 10 million cedis to the people of Ankaase for the construction of drainage systems and five million cedis for the rehabilitation of boreholes at Daboya and Bahase.

The MP said he had provided 22 million cedis each to Ablade, Bomso and Nantan and seven million cedis to the people of Sayemo for the purchase of low-tension poles in support of their electrification projects.

He said he had initiated the construction of a six-classroom block at Afrancho and another three-classroom block at Atimatim, adding that he had provided 100 and 50 bags of cement in support of Adwumakaase and Ebom-Bomfa school projects, respectively.

Ntribuoho has received two million cedis cash and 50 bags of cement while the people of Sasa had also received 50 bags of cement for the rehabilitation of their primary school, the MP stated. 17 April 06
