MP aspirant donates items to Muslims

An independent parliamentary candidate in the Akatsi South constituency of the Volta region, Mr. Evans Gadeto Djikunu, has called on Muslims to be steadfast and pray for the nation.

Mr. Djikunu, who is a lawyer by profession, made the call when he joined hundreds of Muslims in Akatsi and Wute communities in Akatsi South District to celebrate this year's Ramadan Festival on Saturday, July 18, 2015.

As part of the event which was held at the Roman Catholic (RC) Park in Akatsi, Mr. Djikunu made a presentation of 400 bags of sachet water to the leaders of the Muslim communities in both Wute and Akatsi towards a successful and peaceful Ramadan.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Djikunu prayed to Allah for strength for "our workforce, wisdom for our leaders, prosperity for us all and peace for mother Ghana."

The prolific lawyer again thanked the Muslims for a peaceful Ramadan this year without any incident in the Akatsi South District.

He also asked that Allah would inculcate the spirit of unity, forgiveness and brotherliness in all Muslims and others in the district.

He commended Ghanaian religious faiths for co-existing peacefully, adding that he and his supporters were committed to peace and nation building.

Mr. Djikunu said the gesture was prudent, given the long-standing relationship that had existed between him and Muslim leaders in Akatsi South District.

He took the opportunity to formally inform the Muslim communities in Akatsi South of his preparedness to contest the seat of Akatsi South in the 2016 polls, and therefore asked for prayers for his succession.

For their part, the leaders of Muslim communities in Akatsi and Wute in Akatsi South expressed their profound appreciation to Mr. Djikunu and said the donation was timely, noting that whatever prayer requests Mr. Djikuni has made during the period of Ramadan would be answered by Allah.

They prayed for Mr. Djikunu and asked for Allah’s peace and protection for all Ghanaians and political parties and thanked Allah for the peace that Ghana was enjoying, especially in the light of the peaceful co-existence among Muslim and Christian communities.
