Lunatics invade Achimota

A section of the public at Achimota have expressed worry about the frequent invasion of lunatics along the streets of the locality.

They said the lunatics, mostly youth, come from nowhere to disturb the inhabitants without any provocation.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Thursday, Mr. Samuel Adu, a taxi driver said the lunatics harass them both physically and psychologically.

He said they create vehicular traffic, and sometimes cause damage to their cars and other motorists who ply the Achimota - Ofanko Highway.

Mr. Adu, however, expressed dissatisfaction about the unconcern attitude of city authorities, and pleaded with the appropriate authorities to act quickly before any mayhem occurs, saying, "these lunatics, especially the male ones, sometimes carry offensive weapons such as jack knives, sticks and dog chains.

A gentleman who sells carpets, and only gave his name as Agyingo, narrated his ordeal in the hands of one of the insane men a fortnight ago, and said had it not been onlookers who saved me; this madman would have wounded him.

Agyingo entreated the police to intervene before these lunatics cause any harm to the vulnerable like ladies and children.

Mr. Yao Adjei Junior, a computer technician also expressed his dissatisfaction about the unfolding events and said these lunatics will scatter refuse, harass food vendors, and bump into shops, wielding dog chains, sticks and stones which can be dangerous.

Mr. Adjei Jnr. pleaded with the security agencies to act swiftly to help avert any possible mishap.
