Let’s use creative arts to develop street children

Big Ada, Sep 20, GNA – Mr Kelvin Asare-Williams, National President of Junior Art Club, a Non-Governmental Organization, (NGO) has stressed the need to develop the capacity of street children and the youth through creative arts.

This, he said, would help equip them with entrepreneurial skills.

Mr Asare-Williams made the call at a workshop for youth and children at Big Ada on the theme: “Empowering the Youth with the Arts – The Role of Music, Theatre and Screen Printing in Youth Development.”

He said children and the youth had a lot of hidden talents, which when well developed, could help them to become successful entrepreneurs.

Mr Asare-Williams recounted the achievements of the club over the years, and said it had exhibited works of Ghanaian children and the youth at Fairs in America; Australia and England.

Miss Flavia Dimario, Vice President of the Club, said plans were underway to establish a training centre at Ada to unearth the talents of children and the youth in the area.
