Let's live in peace and harmony - Nii Arku

Accra, March 10, GNA - Nii Kwei Arku V, Chief of Bortianor, has underscored the need for residents in the town to live in peace and harmony so that collectively they could initiate development programmes to better their lot.

Nii Arku, who made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra, reminded the people that they could move the town forward if only they buried their differences and became each other's keeper.

He said plans were underway to reconcile the people, since according to him that was the surest way to move as one people to ensure the rapid development of the town.

The Chief said there were plans to establish cottage industries in the area to give employment to the idling youth.

He, therefore, advised the youth to have respect for authority and do away with hooliganism and other negative tendencies that would ruin their future.

Nii Arku deplored the negative attitude of some people in the area, who were fond of cutting down trees indiscriminately and urged them, to desist from the practice, so as to save the environment from degradation.

He further advised the people to respect divergent views and opinions, adding that as one united family, it was their collective responsibility to put all hands on deck to ensure the realization of set goals.

On development projects, the Chief said schools buildings, public places of convenience, and a library would soon be embarked upon to give the town a face-lift.
