Let's give more attention to post-graduate education - Prof Asiamah

Architecture and Planning, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has urged government to give more attention to post-graduate education to boost the country's human resource base. He said it should not be lost on the nation that it was through post-graduate research and higher education that its' endowed natural resources could be effectively utilized to achieve economic progress. Prof. Asiamah was speaking at the inauguration of a multi-purpose post-graduate block for the College in Kumasi. The GH¢777,225.00 three-storey block was funded through the University= 's internally-generated funds.

It has seminar rooms, resource library, a computer laboratory, geographical information system (GIS) laboratory and offices. Prof. Asiamah said there was the need to provide enough space to admit m= ore post-graduate students.

The College has 380 post-graduate students, 287 are resident at the=

University campus and he said given adequate structures they could take o= n more students. He said they were collaborating with the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) to build another four-storey building for staff offices, library and cafeter= ia. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene and Chancellor of the University, who inaugurated the block, praised the College for the initiative and drive.
