Let's Sustain Peace Between Us- Chief Advises Communities

Ho, Dec. 10, GNA - Togbe Hor II, Makorsor of Somey Traditional Area on Saturday called on people in his traditional area to help sustain the existing peaceful atmosphere between them and the Anlos. The Makorsor, who was speaking at the end of year get-together of the Agbozume Union in Ho stated that the peaceful coexistence of the two traditional areas is crucial to the socio-economic development of the southern Volta.

He said though the two traditional areas had few differences in their traditional set-up they are one people and had lived together as one people peacefully "until the coming of the white man". Togbe Hor said the good news however, was that the over 200 years conflict between the two had ended, giving way to peace. He said the time was therefore ripe for the two areas to consolidate the peaceful environment through collaborations towards the progress of both areas.

"Let us not leave things to fate but embrace the peaceful wind of our time and use it well for the benefit of younger generations", Togbe Hor said.

Mr Wisdom Amegayibor, Chairman of the Union said, in view of the current socio-economic difficulties, unionism was the best option and called on the Anlos and Someys in the Diaspora to join unions wherever they found themselves.

He explained that unions foster unity and promote the spirit of brotherliness.
