Kyempo gets GH?184, 000.00 nurses’ accommodation

A GH?184,000.00 four-bedroom nurses quarters built at Kyempo in the Asante-Akim South District, to provide decent accommodation for health professionals posted to the Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound there, has been inaugurated.

This was funded by the German Government, through The Hunger Project Ghana (THP-G).

It has effectively ended the situation where the workers had to travel daily from Obogu to provide medical care to the predominantly farming population.

Mr. Samuel Afrane, Country Director of THP-G, said it was an important step towards improving access to quality healthcare in the area.

He reminded the chiefs and people to show ownership of the project by properly maintaining and keeping it in good shape at all times.

He applauded the district assembly for the interest and support and said the successful construction of the property symbolized what could be achieved through cooperation.

Dr. Nicole Maldonado Psychny of the German Embassy in Accra underlined the need to step up investment in rural health infrastructure.

This, she said, would require the active involvement of civil society organizations (CSOs) in the mobilization of resources to improve the lives of the people.

She pledged the German Government’s resolve to work with credible CSOs to make things better for the under-privileged.

Mr. De-graft Fokuo, the District Chief Executive (DCE), urged the health workers to be inspired by the gesture to work with renewed dedication to save lives.

Mr. Ringo Sulley Narh, the acting District Director of Health Services, applauded THP-G and its partners for the support.
