Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly wins sanitation award

Sunyani (B/A), Sept. 4, GNA - Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly was on Friday awarded this year's best metropolitan city award in cleanliness at the launch of the National Sanitation Week in Sunyani.

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development organized the award winning competition for metropolitan cities, municipal and district assembly towns.

Mr Kofi Jumah, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, received the prize presented by the Vice-President Alhaji Aliu Mahama. The prizes included Wellington Boots, Rakes, Nose-masks, wheelbarrows, cutlasses and shovels.

Bolgatanga, capital of Upper East Region won the cleanest municipal town award, while Sunyani took the second position.

In the district assembly towns contest, Nkoranza in Brong-Ahafo took the first position, followed by Damongo in the Northern Region, Hohoe in Volta Region, Konongo in Ashanti and Lawra in Upper West region in that other.

Each of the award winners also received sanitation tools and clocks.
