Krachi-West Assembly records huge revenue increase

Kete-Krachi, May 6, GNA - The Krachi-West District Assembly recorded a whopping GH¢20,208 for the first quarter of this year as against an annual projected revenue mobilisation of GH¢6,498. This Internally Generated Fund (IGF) represents 30 per cent of the annual target.

Mr Douglas Koranteng, District Chief Executive (DCE) who announced this at the opening of the Assembly's two-day Ordinary Assembly Meeting at Kete-Krachi on Monday, however, said its recurrent expenditure had within the same period also recorded an increment of GH¢24,209. He attributed the big jump to the engagement of innovative strategies and disciplinary measures in revenue generation and collection by its district revenue mobilization and monitoring task force.

Mr Koranteng called on Assembly Members to support the revenue generation drive and also to spend within its revenue target. The DCE said the first quarter allocation of its Common Fund for 2008 amounting to GH¢1.087 million was yet to be received. Mr Koranteng indicated that, various development projects worth million of cedis in the District in sectors such health, education and water had been completed. Some he said were at different levels of completion.

Under the Community Based Rural Development Programme, he said four three-unit classroom blocks; two market stalls, clinic and a warehouse were being constructed at over GH¢ 2.1 million. Mr Koranteng said 19 boreholes and six four-unit institutional latrines were under construction also worth GH¢1,010, in addition to the small towns pipe water scheme for Chinderi, Borae No 2 and Banda. Mr Patrick Bulator, Presiding Member of the area entreated members to rededicate themselves to hard work to achieve collective development.
