Kpone/Katamanso MP assists schools in constituency

Katamanso, May 29, GNA - Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, Member of Parliament for Kpone/Katamanso constituency, last Saturday presented furniture and items worth about 155 million cedis towards the development of schools within the constituency to meet the increasing enrolment of pupils as a result of the Government's Capitation grant. They were 100 million cedis worth of furniture for 12 selected schools, 35 million cedis for electrification project, a canteen and completion of teacher's bungalow for primary schools at Oyibi. The public schools at Santoe and Kpoi-Ete villages had 10 million cedis each to construct a school canteen and provision of potable water respectively from his share of the MP's Common Fund. Nii Laryea Agbo also presented a 29-inch colour television set to the police at Kpone.

Making the presentation at Katamanso, he said with the increase in enrolment from the grant teachers and pupils required better facilities to enhance teaching and learning. He appealed to the teachers to endeavour to assist the children learn hard and excel in their education to become good citizens for the constituency in future.

Nii Laryea Agbo called on the pupils and students to eschew laziness and study hard.

Mr Emmanuel Botwe, Circuit Supervisor for Zenu/Katamanso who received the items on behalf of the schools expressed gratitude to the MP for the assistance to improve facilities at the schools that had increased in enrolment.

He said most of the children needed education but were being denied because of the payment of school fees and appealed to parents to take advantage of the grant to educate their children.
