Koforidua Water Expansion Project is 98 percent complete

Oterkporlu (E/R), March 09, GNA - The Koforidua Water Expansion Project aimed to increase the production of potable water, increase service coverage and improve water distribution network in Koforidua and its environs is 98 percent complete.

Work on the project, which is in three phases, started in May 2007 and has a capacity of 4.7 million gallons per day with a target population of about 227,000.

Mr Martin Kofi Ansah-Asante, Regional Production Manager of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), said this when the Eastern Regional Minister, Dr Kwasi Akyem Apea-Kubi, inspected the water project at Oterkporlu on Wednesday.

Mr Ansah-Asante said, the project which was supposed to be completed in June, would be completed in May. It will supply water to other towns like Oyoko, Jumapo, Suhyen, Anyinasin, Maase, Old Tafo, Osiem, Kofikrom and Kukurantumi. Dr Apea-Kubi said assured all communities around the project site that do not have good drinking water that they would be included very soon.
