Kassena-Nankana West District organises workshop on development

Bolgatanga, May 8, GNA - The Kassena-Nankana West District in the Upper East Region, has organised a two-day workshop at Paga for stakeholders on the validation of the assembly's medium term plan to forge the development pattern of the area.

The district which was among the new local government entities created in 2007 is facing a number of problems including inadequate financial resources, logistics and staff.

Mr. Thomas Adda Dalu District Chief Executive said as a new district it was bound to face a number of challenges and entreated heads of the decentralised departments, assembly members and traditional authorities to make use of the resources available to facilitate progress and make inputs into the validation process.

Mr. Dalu said the Miistry of Local Government and Rural Development= had assessed the needs of the district for redress.

He urged the District Planning and Co-ordinating Unit to plan and budget appropriately for projects during the

implementation of the medium term development plan. He entreated the heads of department to attach importance to monitor= ing and evaluation, saying they are essential

in delivering development projects. The District Planner, Mr. Emmanuel Liedid explained that the objecti= ve of the stakeholder forum was to ensure local

participation in the development planning process, which is very vital fo= r the successful implementation of programmes

and projects.
