Kantinka FM fetes 1000 orphans and street children in Agona Swedru

Agona Swedru, April 28, GNA - Kantinka FM, an Agona Swedru based radio station in collaboration with Getty and Friends, a Gospel Artist, on Easter Monday organized a party for more than 1,000 orphans and street children in the Agona Municipality. The programme dubbed 93Me Kakrawa Nie" was held on the theme "enhancing child care for a brighter future". Mr Emmanuel Kweku Tetteh, the Agona West Municipal Chief Executive who addressed the children, praised the FM station and the Gospel artist for their kind gesture.

He urged parents in the Municipality to avoid encouraging their children to indulge in trading at the expense of their education. Mr Tetteh encouraged parents to collaborate with the Parent/Teacher Associations and other stakeholders in education to find a solution to the increasing school dropouts among the children. He said he was not happy with the alarming increase of street children and called on the traditional rulers and the Assembly to enact appropriate bye-laws to help reverse the trend. Mr Philip Armah, General Manager of Kantinka FM, said when the station was launched in 2010, they realized that there were many street children who lacked parental care and decided to organize the party to feed them during the Easter period. Mr Samuel Kweku Obodai, Member of Parliament for Agona West, praised the FM station for organizing the party for the children. 28 April
