Independence Anniversary must unite us ahead of December polls-DCE

Mr Michael Kobla Adzaho, Adaklu-Anyigbe District Chief Executive, on Tuesday said Ghana’s 55th Independence Anniversary must unite the citizenry ahead of the December polls.

“Henceforth, fellow feeling should become the basis of all that we do. That way, our 55th Anniversary of Independence will mark a fresh beginning, a rebirth of our nation and also see us worthier citizens of this great nation,” he said.

Mr Adzaho said this at the Independence Anniversary parade of the District at Kpetoe.

He appealed to the citizenry especially opinion leaders to put aside all forms of discrimination and ensure that the country forged ahead with a common purpose.

Mr Adzaho urged the youth to take a good look at the country’s socio-economic situation and think of what contribution they could offer towards ensuring a “better Ghana” for all.

“The social transformation that the government of the NDC has initiated which is aimed at social justice for all must appeal to us to show and demonstrate our commitment to the realization of its noble objectives,” he said.

Mr Adzaho urged pupils and students to develop qualities such as “honesty, tolerance, patriotism and dedication to duty”, which he said were important for nation building.

He catalogued development projects undertaken by the NDC government and those yet to be completed and urged people in the District to exercise their franchise “wisely for continuity of development projects.”

Mr Adzaho urged them to participate in the forthcoming biometric registration and charged opinion leaders to educate people in the communities about the exercise to be conducted by the Electoral Commission.
