Hotel operators in Ho appeal for upgrading of roads, streetlights

Ho, Feb. 11, GNA - The Manager of 'Kekeli' hotel of the E.P. Church, Mr William Kpende on Thursday urged the Ho Municipal Assembly to upgrade and provide street lighting on roads leading to hotels and guest houses in the municipality to boost tourism there.

Speaking at a reception organised by the hotel for its customers, Mr Kpende said poor road network to hotels and guest houses and lack of street lights to such places were disincentives to customers who might want to patronise them.

Mr Kpende said whereas the Municipal Assembly had been diligently collecting its fees and other levies from industry operators, it has not adequately fulfilled its obligations to them.

He said there had been occasions when some foreign guests to the hotel were attacked by thugs while returning to the lodges from town in the evening because there were no streetlights.

Mr said residential accommodation for the Church's leadership at the headquarters would in future be relocated to the Bremen Village at Akoefe, near Ho to give way for the expansion of the hotel. The E.P. Church built the Kekeli hotel as a means of generating supplementary revenue for the Church.

Some of the guests who attended the reception were mainly from the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). They commended the management of the hotel for the initiative and recognition given them. Some of the guests also made suggestions to the management for further improvement on service delivery.
