Hohoe chiefs commend government

Hohoe, May 20, GNA- Traditional Authorities in the Hohoe District have commended government for ensuring equitable execution of development projects in the country. The chiefs also praised the authorities for implementing policies and programmes aimed at lessening the suffering of Ghanaians. They cited the National Health Insurance Scheme, which Hohoe district was adjudged the best in the Volta Region and the School Feeding Programme as some of the initiatives.

The chiefs made these remarks at separate functions when Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), made a courtesy call on them as part of his tour of the area. They included Togbega Gabusu VI, paramount chief of Gbi Traditional Area, Togbega Delume VII, paramount chief of Ve Traditional Area and Alhaji Mohammed Tajudeen Merigah, Sariki Zongo of Hohoe. Togbega Gabusu commended government for constructing roads in the Hohoe township but complained about the poor state of feeder roads in the area.

Togbega Delume said even though the area has being rejecting the NPP since 1992, the party has become a force to reckon with. Alhaji Rudwan Meriga, Spokesman of the Sariki Zongo appealed to Nana Akufo-Addo to consider making Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Sadiqque, Minister of Water Resources Works and Housing as his running mate to deepen the relationship between NPP and the Zongo communities. The NPP flagbearer assured the chiefs that if retained in power, the NPP would continue with development programmes and policies being pursued currently to build a modern and prosperous country where national assets and resources would be equitably distributed. He promised to create new districts and municipalities and establish a state university in the region when given the mandate to rule the country.

Nana Akufo Addo paid a courtesy call on the families of Bernice Buaba and Emmanuel Sunu, who died in an accident recently when returning from a festival at Akpafu Todzi. He donated cash to the bereaved families and those who sustained various degrees of injury.
