Accra, Oct. 9, GNA- Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) from Ho Polytechnic would participate in the 2007 SIFE World Cup competition to be held at Hilton, New York in the United States of America. Ho Polytechnic SIFE won the SIFE Ghana national competition earlier this year, earning the team a slot at the SIFE world Cup and was expected to compete alongside 43 SIFE members.

A statement signed by Mr. Jonas Atingdui, the Country Director, SIFE Ghana, in Accra on Tuesday, said more than 2,000 people would attend the competition that would attract university students from 48 countries around the world.

It indicated that SIFE was a global non-profit organisation that mobilized university students to create economic opportunities and help others to discover their potentials.

The statement said the SIFE students formed teams on their university campuses and developed outreach projects that cantered on entrepreneurship, market economics, business ethics, success skills and finances in their communities.

The statement said Ho Polytechnic SIFE team was presenting four entrepreneurship projects for this year's competition, including a nim tree, oil extraction project.

In 2002, the University of Ghana SIFE team took the second place in the competition held in Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

Last year the SIFE team from Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade took the top honours at 2006 SIFE World Cup in Paris, France. The championship team worked to help persons with disabilities to become self-reliant in society. At the 2007 SIFE world cup, however, the top teams would present the result of their outreach projects at the competition to determine which team made the most remarkable impact on their respective communities. 10 Oct. 07
