An exposed high tension pole at Susuakyie, an area within the Anloga Community, a suburb of Kumasi is gradually becoming a death trap to residents.

The base of the pole, located at the outskirt of the SESA River, has been over-exposed as a result of continuous rainfall and erosion and running water constantly eating away the sand covering it.

Some of the residents who spoke to Ultimate News fear an imminent collapse of the pole which could land on passer-bys.

"It wasn’t so dangerous initially as the base used to be completely buried in the sand, until erosion exposed it. We fear for the lives of the kids and the houses around,’ they decried.

They are appealing to government, GRIDCO and Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to as a matter of urgency work on the pole to avoid the untoward.

"I would have preferred if government would cement the drain just like the one at Asokwa. It is only government who can help us, there is nothing we can do about it. We value our lives and that of our children too," they lamented.

The Assemblyman for the area, Amidu Gariba, indicated that all efforts to get GRIDCO to rectify the situation has proven futile.

Meanwhile, close source from regional office of GRIDCO reveals that the project is awaiting help from the Engineering department of GRIDCO which would be arriving anytime soon.
