Hemang Lower Denkyira to get electricity

Communities in the Hemang Lower Denkyira District (HLDD) would be hooked to the national electricity grid by the end of the year 2016, Mr. Francis Korankye-Sakyi, District Chief Executive of the assembly has announced.

Speaking at the Assembly’s general meeting at Hemang, Mr. Korankye-Sakyi also said a new assembly hall would be constructed at Twifo Mampong very soon.

He declared that the Assembly had collected a total revenue of GH¢1,823,345.00 23 by November 2014, as against GH¢650, 114.00 for 2013.

The DCE said the Assembly was able to undertake a number of projects in the District, which included an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre at the Roman Catholic Basic School, at Ankaku.

The rest are three Unit Teachers’ quarters at the Twapease District Assembly (D/A) School, the renovation of Classroom blocks at Tawia Nkwanta Basic School, Som Nyame Kodur D/A School and Pepekrom D/A School.

Mr. Korankye-Sakyi said the Assembly was constructing a new District Education Office, and a three unit classroom block each for the Jukwa Model and Pepekrom D/A Basic Schools , while a Six Unit Classroom, an office and a Library would be provided for the Nsukesekyir D/A Basic School.

Mr. Korankye said the district was operating two Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds at Wawase and Mfuom, with plans for more CHPS Compounds at Baako Ndidi, Gyankobo and other towns in the offing.

The DCE commended Mr. Godfred Mensah, the head teacher of Nsuaem D/A Basic School for winning one of Otumfuo’s Best Teacher awards last year.

He later presented a fire tender to Mr. Joseph Solomon, District Fire Officer in charge of Twifo Heman Lower Denkyira District.

The Twifo Heman Lower Denkyira Districts Assembly, with its Administrative capital Hemang, was carved from Twifo-Heman Lower Denkyira (now Twifo-Ati Mokwa). It was inaugurated on the 28th June, 2012.

The District shares Boundaries with Abura-Asebu-Kwamankesse District to the East, to the South with Cape Coast Metropolitan, to the West with Mpohor Wassa East and to the North with Upper Denkyira East Municipal.
