Help avert disaster- Residents pleads with KMA

Kumasi, Aug 3, GNA- Residents of Anwiamu Dagombaline in the Oforikrom electoral area in Kumasi metropolis, have appealed to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to enforce the planning scheme for the area to avoid encroachment on road reservations in the area. They noted that due to the manner in which construction of structures are cited on spaces earmarked for roads, the community faces the risk of serious disaster should there be fire outbreak.

Opanin K. Antwi, an opinion leader told Mr Edward Osei-Kwaku, Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa West and Mr Maxwell Kofi Jumah, KMA Chief Executive, when the two visited the area to inspect projects and interact with the people. Opanin Antwi appealed to the KMA to assist the community to improve facilities in the area.

He noted that drains, roads and public places of convenience were woefully lacking and appealed to the MP and the MCE to use their good offices to improve the community. The Aboabo stream, he said, also needed immediate dredging to forestall flooding. The MP and Metro Chief Executive assured the people that the KMA would address their problems.
