Health insurance agents schooled on new currency

Juaso (Ash), July 19, GNA - The Asante-Akim South District Mutual Health Insurance office has organized a day's workshop for its collectors in the district on the new Ghana cedi. More than 100 participants attended the workshop, which was aimed at sensitising participants on how to use the conversion chart to facilitate smooth transactions between the agents and clients. Mr Owusu Kodua, District Scheme Manager, said collection agents played a crucial role in the sustenance of the scheme hence it was imperative to keep them abreast with such developments as the new currency.

He expressed the hope that the sensitisation would help eradicate misunderstanding between agents and clients, especially during the transitional period when both currencies would be in circulation. Mr Kodua implored the participants to be courteous to their clients even in the event of a misunderstanding over the currency in order not to scare people away from the scheme.

Mr Yiadom Boakye Manu, Claims Manager, who took the participants through the conversion chart, reminded them that both currencies were legal tender until the end of the year.
