Group inaugurated to promote best education

Ed MASHAV GAR- GHANA, an educational association comprising personnel in the Ghana Education Service (GES) has been inaugurated with a call on members to ensure the best education for the Ghanaian child.

The Association, which is a Non-Governmental Organisation, mainly in the Greater Accra Region (GAR), has the primary goal of bringing together beneficiaries of the MASHAV Training, an Israeli Agency for International Development Cooperation Programme, to share their knowledge and experiences from the training, for the benefit of the Ghanaian child.

Speaking at the launch, Mrs Grace Agyepong Dankyira, President of Ed MASHAV GAR- GHANA, said their training gave them deeper insight into the issues of Child Education, Poverty, Power – sharing, Decision-making, and others.

Mrs Dankyira, therefore, urged members to use their knowledge and expertise to help transform Ghanaian children in whatever positive possible.

Alhaji Abdulai Sofo Sulemana, the Public Relations Officer of the Association, explained that the Association with a membership of 113, at present had the goal of bringing members under one umbrella to use their skills, knowledge and expertise acquired from their training to help the Ghanaian child in a holistic manner.

“The training programme began 12 years ago with the assistance of the Israeli Government, Accra Metropolitan Assembly and the GES,” he said, and called on members put their expertise to the best of their abilities.

Alhaji Suleman also advised colleagues to be committed and focus on the objectives of the group as the children they sought to reach out to were the future leaders.

Speaking on the theme, “Mutual Collaboration for Holistic Education”, Mrs Felicia Boakye-Yiadom, the GAR Regional Director of Education, said the theme was timely, especially, when the Association had been using holistic approaches to teach and train the Ghanaian child over the years.

She advised members to collaborate and form a community for the mutual interest of the Ghanaian child, and the country at large.

Mr Ami Mehl, the Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, called for a continuous collaboration between Ghana and Israel as it was essential, especially in the area of education.

He lauded the group for putting their knowledge into practice by coming together to help shape the education cycle of children in Ghana, starting from the Kindergarten.

Mr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, the Mayor of Accra, advised the members to ensure that the objectives of the group were met as education was the best key to every country’s development.

He was honoured with a citation by Ed MASHAV GAR- GHANA.

An eye and ear screening exercises were organised for school children and other patrons who graced the occasion.
