Group calls for new nomination of Tamale MCE

Tamale, May 02, GNA- A group calling itself "Concerned Youth of the New Patriotic Party" in Tamale on Tuesday appealed to President John Agyekum Kufour to nominate as early as possible, a capable person to occupy the seat of the Chief Executive of the Tamale Metropolis.

The group said the long absence of a substantive Metropolitan Chief Executive was not only retarding the development of the area but was also affecting the fortunes of the party in the Metropolis. The Concerned Youth made the call at a press conference in Tamale to deliberate on issues of the party and the need to plan a programme of activities to mobilise support for the party. Alhaji Ibrahim Kaleem, a spokesman for the group, appealed to the President to nominate a person who, among other qualities, is a good organiser, manager, an effective communicator and dynamic, who is tolerant and has the welfare of the people and the development of the Metropolis at heart.

The group noted that the next general election was not far away and expressed the need therefore for the party to strategise and galvanise support to win the three parliamentary seats in Tamale. It appealed to the regional executive of the party not to forget the party workers and foot soldiers who had toiled and played crucial roles in ensuring victory for the party in previous elections. 02 May 06
