Govt provides 5,000 dual desks to schools in Ahafo-Ano North

The government has since the beginning of this academic year, provided 5,000 dual desks through the Non-Project Assistance Fund for distribution to schools in the Ahafo-Ano North District in Ashanti.

Mrs Dora Amaniampong, the District Director of Education, was speaking at the best teacher/worker awards during which 26 teachers and educational workers in the district were honoured for their dedicated services at Tepa.

She appealed to the Ghana Education Service (GES) to sponsor the programme to spare district directors from looking for sponsors.

Mrs Amaniampong appealed to teachers and non-teaching staff to rededicate themselves to the cause of the service by giving of their best to help train children to become useful and responsible citizens.

She urged the award winners to continue to demonstrate a high sense of commitment and dedication to duty in order to serve as role models to their colleagues.

Mr Akwasi Adu-Poku, the District Chief Executive, commended the winners for their dedication to duty and for bringing honour to themselves, their families and asked others to emulate them.

Miss Rebecca Owusu Sekyere of Tepa Presbyterian primary school, was adjudged the best primary school teacher and Mr Richard Boakye-Ansah of Manfo Catholic JSS won the best science and mathematics award.

All the award winners received items ranging from colour television sets, refrigerators, suitcases to gas burners and standing fans.
