Government commended for making education attractive to children

Juaben, (Ash), Aug. 11, GNA- Mrs. Agnes Okyere-Gyamfi, Ejisu-Juaben District Director of Education, has commended the Government for its efforts at providing sound environment for more children to be sent to school.

She stated that, the introduction of the Capitation Grant, School Feeding Programme, supply of textbooks, free transportation for school children, as well as the provision of furniture and classroom blocks were making education more attractive to many children who were hitherto, not in school.

Mrs. Okyere-Gyamfi made the commendation at the end of the Pre-school week celebration, organized by the District Directorate of Education at Juaben.

She appealed to all stakeholders in education to complement efforts of government and help build a solid foundation for the development of education in the district. Mrs. okyere-Gyamfi urged parents to ensure that their children become disciplined, self-reliant and obedient in order to become responsible citizens in the future. She also asked teachers to be role models and help children to overcome challenges that might hinder their academic performances. Mr. Yaw Ahenkora Afrifa, Dirtrict Chief Executive of Ejisu-Juaben, said the early years of a child's life must be given the needed attention to ensure his or her, survival, growth and development. 11 Aug 07
