Gomoa Ajumako Omanhene commends Private Schools

Obrempong Nyanful Krampah the Eleventh, Omanhene of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, has commended private schools for their contributions towards the improvement of education in the country.

He said the results of private schools in the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE), is highly commendable, even though most of their teachers are not professionals.

Obrempong Krampah made the commendation when he addressed the Central Regional Executives of the Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS), during the celebration of the GNAPS Week at Apam.

The Regional celebration has been shifted from the regional capital to the districts, to give meaning to the decentralization policy.

It was under the theme: “God, Save Education In Ghana. “

The Omanhene also urged private schools to engage the services of qualified teachers with high standards of professionalism, to ensure maximum supervision of staff.

He urged proprietors to invest in the infrastructural development, and provide conducive environment for teaching and learning.

Obrempong Krampah urged the GNAPS executives to monitor their members, to ensure excellent performances.

He called for the setting up of Career Guidance and Counseling Units in private schools, to guide students on the selection of their courses.

The chairman of the Gomoa West District Branch of the Association, Mr Hayford Edu Quaye, said the Gomoa West District is a poverty-stricken area, which makes it impossible for parents to educate their children to the highest level.

He, therefore, appealed to the government to assist private schools in the area to stand on their feet.

Mr Quaye also appealed to the government to provide schools in the area with textbooks, teachers, reading and writing materials.
