GTZ funds construction of water treatment plant

Madam Elizabeth Owusu, Ejura/Sekyedumase District Chief Executive, has cut a sod for work to start on a five-seat macrophyte based water treatment plant for the Ejuraman Senior Secondary School at Ejura.

The 160-million-cedi project is being financed by German Development Co-operation (GTZ) under the District Capital Promotion Project (PRODICAP) and would be completed in May.

The modern place of convenience would have five bathhouses, one washing basin and two stand pipes.

The effluent from the macrophyte plant would be used to irrigate farmlands and could also be used to fill fishponds because the effluent contains nutrients needed for the growth of plankton.

Mr Hans-Jurgen Schaffer, Chief Technical Advisor to PRODICAP, called for the proper maintenance of the facility when completed.

Mr Collins Edward Badu, Headmaster of Ejuraman Secondary School, thanked the German Government for its assistance to the country in education, health and sanitation.
