GDCA partners media for development

Tamale, Nov. 3, GNA - The executive secretary of the Ghana Developing Communities Association, (GDCA) Mr Osman Abdel-Rahman, has commended the media for their collaborative efforts and urged them to maintain it towards national development.

He said this in an address in Tamale on Tuesday as part of its quarterly meeting with the media to assess its progress. He noted that the media had helped in advocating for food security in the Northern Region through its reportage.

He said there were many scientific research into agriculture and food security which needed to be communicated to farmers and this was being done through the media.

Mr. Abdel-Rahman therefore advised the media to concentrate more on developmental journalism and to continue raising the issues affecting the society.

He said the GDCA was currently implementing the Empowerment for Life Programme, which brings on board Youth Empowerment for Life at the cost of GH¢5,554,055.28.

Madam Rosemond Kumah, Programme Advocacy and Communication Officer, however, expressed worry about the activities of Fulani Herdsmen, which had led to the destruction of certain farms. She therefore called on the government to monitor the activities of the Fulani Herdsmen.
