Forty-three trained under STEP in the Amansie East

Amoaful (Ash), Sept 21, GNA- Forty-three youngsters have been trained in hairdressing, food processing and batik tie and dye production at Amoaful near Bekwai in the Amansie East District under the Skills Training and Employment Placement (STEP) programme.

Speaking at a ceremony held at the Amoaful Women's Training Centre, Mr Richard Aboagye, the District Chief Executive, urged the participants to put the knowledge acquired into good use and impart same, to others.

He said the District Assembly was teaming up with the rural banks to assist with seed capital and start up tools to enable them start their businesses.

Mr David Nsor, Ashanti Regional Director for Community Development, said the STEP programme is a strategy to help reduce poverty among the youth.

He therefore advised the trained ones to form co-operative to enable them access loans from the banks and assistance from the National Board for Small-Scale Industries (NBSSI).

Certificate of participation were later presented to the trained youngsters.
