Floods wash away temporal wooden bridge at Gyankrom

The people of Djankrom and its surrounding communities have been cut off from other parts of the district after a downpour washed away a temporal wooden bridge over river Mateta on Monday.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Nsawam, Mr. Enoch Ofori, a teacher of the Methodist School at Gyankrom said, while the pupils could not attend school, farmers also found it difficult sending their produce to the Nsawam Market.

Alhaji Mustapha Awudu, Director of Bobby Computers at Nsawam, who supported in the construction of the temporal bridge, has appealed to the Akuapem South Municipal Assembly and NADMO to urgently come to their aid to enable them to go about their activities.

He said plans should be put in place for the provision of a permanent concrete bridge over the river to forestall the re-occurrence of the situation any time it rains heavily.**
