Floods displaces hundreds of people at Susankyi community

Kumasi, July 1, GNA- Floods from the Susan stream near Anloga in Kumasi has hit the Susankyi community and displaced hundreds of residents and caused extensive damage to property. The floods were caused by a heavy downpour and destroyed more than 10 houses. Mr Edward Osei-Kwaku, Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa West, visited the community on Monday and extended his sympathies to the victims. Mr Osei-Kwaku advised them against turning the stream into a refuse dump and assured them that efforts would be made to remedy the situation. The MP said he was constantly in touch with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to intervene and to help solve the problem in the community. Madam Comfort Ahorlu, one of the victims, told the MP that even though the stream sometimes overflows its banks, last Sunday's flood was worse.
