Five injured as two vehicles collide

Cape Coast, Aug. 19, GNA - A 30-year-old driver, Barnabas Abasiya, on Thursday lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a taxi, injuring its driver, Ayi Tossou and three other passengers in Cape Coast.

The two vehicles veered off the road and narrowly missed falling into the Fosu Lagoon as they were saved by some coconut trees at the side of the lagoon.

Chief Inspector Samuel Obeng Addo of the Cape Coast Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) said the accident happened when Mr. Abasiya, who was driving towards the University of Cape Coast, knocked down a cyclist.

Abasiya lost control and collided with the taxi that was coming from the opposite direction.

He said the driver of the taxi as well as the cyclist and the other occupants of the cab received were injured and were treated and discharged at the UCC and Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospitals.
