Fishermen urged to register as voters

Keta, March 25, GNA- Mr Francis Kpodo, Chairman of the National Canoe Fishermen Council (NCFC) on Wednesday asked all fishing net owners to prevail upon their employees to register as voters.

He was speaking at a forum organised by the NCFC for its members in the Ketu and Keta Districts on the ban on the use of generators and a special light for fishing in the country's waters at Keta.

Mr Kpodo said apathy to national activities such as the registration exercise is not in the best interest of the nation.

He said as citizens with votes, they decide who should rule them. Mr Evans Kofi Ahiakpor, National Deputy General Secretary of the Council advised members to avoid malpractices such as double registration, which could lead them to jail. 25 March 04
