Fire destroys popular chop bar at Ho

Ho, Oct. 20, GNA - Fire on Wednesday raised down 91Hill View', a popular chop bar and drinking spot in Ho, leaving in its wake loss of property estimated at more than 30 million cedis.

The entire structure, including plastic chairs and tables, foodstuffs and plastic bowls got burnt.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be known, according to Mr Innocent Kudjo, Assistant Station Officer of the Ghana Fire Service. He told the Ghana News Agency that a rescue team salvaged a cylinder full of gas but was not sure it was the cause of the fire, adding that at the time of the incident, there was a total blackout. Miss Betty Adzimahe, the operator of the spot, said she received a call at mid-night after she had closed that fire had engulfed the place. She said by the time she arrived at the scene everything had been raised down. Miss Adzimahe appealed to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to come to the family's aid.
