Fire destroys Imoro Egala's house

Tamale, March 19, GNA - Alhaji Mustapha Ali Idris, Northern Regional Minister, has consoled the family of the late Alhaji Imoro Egala, a Minister in the First Republic, whose house and property valued at millions of cedis, were destroyed by fire in Tamale on Monday. Alhaji Idris also pledged his support to restore every property destroyed to mitigate the plight of the family. He said: "This is a renowned family whose predicament should not be borne by only the family members but by the whole Northern Region". The Minister had visited the family at Changli, a suburb of Tamale, to console the family and to ascertain the extent of damage caused by the fire sparked off by a candle flame. Alhaji Mustapha also promised to accommodate the family members if they faced any accommodation problem until the house was rebuilt. Mrs. Mary Egala, the 53-year-old landlady of the house who briefed the GNA about the incident, said at about 0330 hours on Saturday, the household woke up to see the house on fire. Mrs Egala commended the Regional Fire Service and her neighbours who acted promptly to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby houses.
