Fifteen students receive awards

Fifteen Junior High School (JHS) students have received the Dormaa Central Municipal Chief Executive’s (MCE’s) Special Award(CESA) for their excellent performance in the 2014 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Each of the awardees, who are now in senior high schools, comprising 10 males and five females received a certificate, a scientific calculator and a dictionary.

Speaking at a ceremony to present the awards Mr. Gordon Kwaku Asubonteng, the MCE, said the award was in recognition of the recipients’ outstanding performances in the examination.

Mr. Asubonteng, who sponsored the awards personally, advised the students to study even harder to achieve greater honours in future.

He said the Assembly was ready to fully support the students to complete their senior high school education, saying “it is part of the Municipal Assembly’s initiative to support brilliant but needy students”.

Barima Yeboah Kordie, the Aduanahene of the Dormaa Traditional Area, commended Mr. Asubonteng and said it would encourage parents, guardians and families to invest in education.

Mrs. Margaret Okyere Pomaa, the Headmistress of the Dormaa Senior High School, advised the students to remain disciplined in their studies because their terminal reports would be forwarded to the MCE periodically.
