Fiagbedu gets two development funds

Dzodze, Oct 27, GNA - The Dzodze Fiagbedu community in the Ketu-North district has instituted two development funds towards maximizing resources for the speedy development of the area. The Fiagbedu Development Fund launched in 2008 has since generated funds towards the construction of a two storey building for an ICT centre and a library with support from the Diamond Cement Ghana Limited. Togbe Ge Development Fund which was launched at the weekend on the other hand, would supplement the Fiagbedu Development Fund and focus on generating funds towards the construction of a centre for training the youths to acquire skills.

An initial amount of Ghc 2,000 was raised at the launch in addition to pledges of support.

Mr Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister, launching the fund which coincided with the maiden Fiagbedu 'Ngoryiyi Za' (Development Festival), commended the chiefs and people for uniting and collaborating in the interest of development.

He was optimistic that the fund would help boost human resource development, poverty reduction and employment creation in the area. Mr Amenowode urged parents in the area to take advantage of government interventions in the educational sector to send their children to school. Togbe Ge III, Chief of Fiagbedu commended Mr Ben Todzro, a Singapore base Seaman for single-handedly extending electricity from the school to parts of the community.

He also commended Reverend Fathers Anthony Fevlo and Paul Dogbe for facilitating the building of six classroom blocks each and Mr James Dotse for his ability to resolve conflicts among families and individuals in the area.
