Fares remain unchanged in spite of fuel price reduction

Ho, July 31, GNA - Fuel stations in Ho have scaled down their fuel prices following Parliament's approval of reduction of taxes on petroleum products last Friday. During its rounds of some fuel stations on Monday, the Ghana News Agency noticed that the price of a gallon of petrol dropped from 42,000 cedis to 40,000 cedis. That of kerosene went down to 32,000 cedis from 34,000 cedis a gallon, while diesel sold for 37,000 cedis per gallon instead of 38,000 cedis.

Meanwhile, some taxi drivers the GNA spoke to, said the prices remained unchanged at Mobil and Goil filling stations in the municipality. Transport fares therefore remain unchanged, as taxi drivers still charge 2,500 cedis for short distances while Ho to Accra fare also remained the same at 30,000 cedis for big buses and 32,000 cedis for small buses. Mr Moses Davor, Regional Chairman of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union, said his outfit was not aware of any reduction in fuel prices and that transport fares would remain unchanged until the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council met to decide on the issue. 31 July 06
