Evangelistic Ministry to start school feeding programme in Bolgatanga

Bolgatanga, Sept 22, GNA - The Evangelistic International Ministry, a US-based non-governmental organisation, has began a five-year school feeding programme for 40 selected schools in the Bolgatanga Municipality.

About 13,000 children are to benefit from the programme, which also aims at promoting girl-child education.

Mr Prince Paul Konu, the West Africa Director of the Ministry, who made this known in Bolgatanga said a nurse would be engage to monitor the health of the children, while a visiting doctor from the US will pay periodic visits to the beneficiary schools to treat the children. Mr Konu was speaking when he presented 7,080 boxes of Notorious Dehydrated Food, valued at 250,000 dollars to the Ghana Education Service (GES), for the start of the programme.

He also presented 40 aluminium cooking pots, worth 10 million cedis, to some school heads to facilitate the preparation of meals for the pupils.

Mr Lawrence Ayuwal, a representative of the GES thanked the Ministry for initiating the programme, which, he said, would go a long way to increase enrolment in the beneficiary schools.
