Ethnicity bane on national development – Participants

Participants at stakeholders’ forum at Nkoranza have identified discrimination, ethnicity, dishonesty, indiscipline and disrespect for each other as major challenges facing governance and national development.

They called on Ghanaians to unite and work hard towards national development and progress.

The forum was organised by the Nkoranza South Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), and attended by representatives of political parties, religious groups, traditional rulers, assembly members, non-governmental organisations and the media.

Issues discussed included social differences, integration and overcoming negative vices for consensus building.

The participants expressed concern that partisan politics had polarised the country.

Mr Ishak Dakurah, Nkoranza South Municipal Director of the NCCE, commended the participants for their observations and recommendations, needed for national development.

He announced that another forum on the roles and responsibilities of assembly members, Municipal and District Chief Executives and Parliamentarians would be organised to foster better collaboration between officials and the people towards development.

Mr Mohammed Manu Busi, Brong-Ahafo Regional Research and Public Education Officer of the NCCE, appealed to Ministers of State and government officials to live up to expectations to accelerate national development.
