Ensure followers maintain peace - DCE

Biriwa (C/R), Nov. 20, GNA - The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Mfantseman, Mr Robert Quainoo-Arthuir has called on political party leaders to ensure that their followers maintained the peace. Mr Quainoo-Arthur said the message of peace being preached by party leaders would be meaningless if they did not ensure that their followers were peaceful.

"Peace is a prerequisite for any development, therefore, people should not pay lip service to it," the DCE said.

He was addressing a rally organised by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Biriwa, in the Mfantseman West Constituency. "Under no account should politics be made to divide us," Mr Quainoo-Arthur said and advised politicians to make unity their watchword in their utterances and activities.

He announced that the Ghana Navy had been detailed to check the use of light for fishing since it depleted the country's fish resources and warned fishermen in the area to refrain from the practice. Miss Gladys Nyinaku, Central Regional Women's Organiser of the Party, called on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to explain to Ghanaians the good legacy they had left behind, which they wanted them to go back for as the slogan "Sankofa" represented.

Mr J. D. Ehuren, Constituency Chairman, urged the electorate to give President John Agyekum Kufuor another four-year mandate to enable him to continue with the good work he had started for the nation.
