Enrolment of girls in school to increase

Otumi (E/R), March 30, GNA- Mrs Grace Inkumsah, Assistant Director of Education at the Kwaebibirem District has said that by the year 2005, there would be an increase in enrolment of girls in schools. Mrs Inkumsah said the drop out rate of girls in both primary and Junior Secondary School would also reduce drastically. She said the Girls Unit of the Ghana Education Service would be able to increase the number of girls from junior secondary school 0and expose them to science, technology, and mathematics. She was speaking at the Kwaebibirem Girls Education Week held at Otumi in the Eastern Region.

Speaking on the theme: Enrolment, Retention and Achievement of Girls in Formal Education, Mrs Inkumsah said the aim of the celebration was to address issues related to ensuring that girls in the country remained in schools and continue schooling to higher levels.
