Ekumfi State to have Omanhene soon

Ekumfi Ebiram, (C/R), May 14, GNA- The Ekumfi Traditional area which has been without an Omanhene for the past 22 years since the death of Nana Akyen VI, would now have one by the end of the year to enhance development in the area.

Ebusuapnayin Kwame Sekyi told the Ghana News Agency at Ekumfi Ebiram that the two royal gates and the kingmakers of the area would meet had agreed on a candidate to be installed as the new Omanhene. He said the continued absence of an Omanhene in the Traditional Area had slowed down developmental progress of the people of Ekumfi State.

Ebusuapanyin Sekyi praised the Queen Mother of the Ekumfi State, Nana Benyiwa V and Nana Kwaa Sam, Otuam Ebusuapanyin of the Asona Family for their cooperation towards the selecting of the Omanhene for the area.

He said by August this year, the candidate whose name is being withheld for security reasons, would be presented to the Traditional Council for final approval by its members before the actual installation in October 2007.

Ebusuapanyin Sekyi commended the members of the council for living in peace and unity without a paramount chief, and hoped that they would continue to maintain such spirit to facilitate the development of the area. He called on the citizens of Ekumfi State both home and abroad to use their expertise and rich experience to ensure a smooth and peaceful installation of the Omanhene. 14 May 07
