Eighty-six people rendered homeless following heavy rainstorm

Breman Asikuma (C/R), March 27, GNA - Eighty-six people from two communities in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District have been rendered homeless following a heavy rainstorm which hit the area. The affected communities were Breman Toboase and Adandan, where the roofs of the victims' houses were ripped-off, personal belongings destroyed and farms also destroyed.

Alhaji Abudulia Iddi, District Co-ordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), told the Ghana News Agency after inspecting the affected communities that the estimated cost of damage was about GH¢10,575.

He said the affected buildings were individual households and the Assembly Junior High School in Toboase which had their roofing damaged.

Alhaji Iddi said at the moment the victims were staying with friends and other relatives adding that they had forwarded their findings to the Regional Office of NADMO for further action. He therefore appealed to non-governmental organizations and philanthropists to assist the victims.
