Drugs cannot make you perform better-Mike Hammah

Winneba, (C/R) July 22, GNA - The Minister of Transport, Mr Mike Hammah has advised the youth to eschew the notion that drugs could enhance their performances, especially during sporting activities. He said the use of drugs such as Indian hemp, 'Hankwana', alcohol or drugs cannot in any way enhance their performance but would be a recipe towards their destruction.

Mr Hammah who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Effutu Constituency, gave the advice when he visited the Effutu Municipal athletics team currently in camp at Winneba towards the Central Region Inter-Municipal and Districts Basic Schools Sports Festival due to take place at Apam on July 24 to July 31 this year.

The Minister urged members of the team to train harder and be disciplined at training to chalk success adding that he was at the camp to boost their moral and wish them good luck at the Festival. Mr Hammah advised them to exhibit good sportsmanship at the competition and desist from unprotected sex to avoid contracting HIV/AIDS, other Sexually Transmitted Infections and getting unwanted pregnancies.

The MP also asked them to be disciplined and obey the instructions of their instructors for them to perform better at the competition. Mr Samuel Essando, Effutu Municipal Sports Organizer expressed gratitude to the MP for the visit and hoped it would inspire the team on to give of their best at the Festival. 22 July 09
