Dr Mustapha Ahmed tours Ayawaso East Costituency

Dr Mustapha Ahmed, Deputy Minister of Enviroment, Science and Technology and Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso East in the Greater Accra Region on Wednesday toured the Constituency to encourage people to patronize the Biometric Voters’ Registration exercise.

He also visited some registration centers, the Iran Islamic Library polling station and Irshada Islamic School polling station, where he registered.

Speaking to people in the area, Dr Ahmed noted that people living in Mamobi were not only Muslims, but were Christians leaders who needed to be abreast with issues in the Constituency, Region and the Nation as a whole.

He said Education was the foundation for development in every country, adding, “I have therefore initiated a scholarship for brilliant but needy students, especially Girls.”

Dr Ahmed said plans were far advanced to establish a fund for widows in the Constituency which would help them with funds to do business and take care of their wards without depending on family leaders.

He encouraged the people of the area to patronize the biometric voters’ registration to be able to exercise their franchise in the up coming 2012 December General Election.

Dr Ahmed later presented a Laptop to a student of the Ishada Islamic School for her excellent performance and commitment towards her studies.

Dr Ahmed also paid a courtsey call to Shiek Mohammed Zakaria Addo, Chairman of the Ahlul Sunna wal Jamah Daawah Committee in the Greater Accra Region.

He said the effort of Muslim leaders in the Constituency was much appreciated by the people in the constituency, adding that, “Without you the Muslim leaders, our youth would have been on the streets committing crimes.”

Shiek Mohammed Zakaria Addo said, the role played by the Ayawaso MP was well recgnised by both Christians and Islamic leaders in the area, and added, “Those who think you are not doing anything to complement our effort, have not been fair to you.”

He said the ideologies of the MP was in full consonance with Quran and complemented with the Islamic Religion, adding, “Muslims in this Constituency are proud of you, where ever we go, you respond to our calls when ever we want you, and we thank Allah for that.”

Shiek Addo noted that a Marriage Counselling Center was needed in the area to save people from unnecessary divorces, and appealed to the MP to help the leaders to set up many Mariage Centers in the area.

He cautioned Muslim Youth who are used to perpetrating violence before, during and after elections to desist from the act and prayed for a peaceful Elections in the upcoming Elections.**
